"Life at King's in 1924 was a little different from that of today; not a mobile phone in sight! Discipline was robust and being a chorister meant singing services twice a day on some weekdays as well as Sundays. We had a week off at Christmas and three days at Easter. Times were, of course, themselves very different. Memories of the Somme and Passchendaele were still vivid for many people and life was an everyday challenge. However, I believe firmly that the mission of the School then was identical to what it is now. I learnt the best of what I know at King's and it has stayed with me for 93 years. I therefore rest content in the knowledge that this outstanding Christian education will continue to be passed on into the 2020s and beyond. To this end, I hope that all of you who read this website will feel inclined to help by providing real support for this remarkable institution."
Reg Woolford, At King's 1924-1929
